Lillian, a shipwreck survivor haunted by a traumatic encounter at sea, is invited to a mysterious job interview at a marine museum. There, she meets Tom, a Mermaid-obsessed curator who presses her to tell the “true” version of the story that tabloids dubbed “The Mermaid Incident.” As Lillian recounts the attack that killed her sister Sharlot and much of the yacht’s crew, the boundaries between truth, delusion, and something more ancient begin to dissolve.
